A wee little update

I realize this poor website has been neglected over the last few months, while I was busy buying a house, spending a lot of money at IKEA and Home Depot, and doing all manner of adult-type things. I need to unpack my sketchbook and tablet and get back in the swing of things. Hopefully, I can make that happen sooner than later – but this pesky The Hour show keeps getting in the way…

A selfie!

As you can tell from the lack of updates (even by my standards), I have been pretty uninspired lately. That, combined with my general laziness, led to a visible layer of dust accumulating on the ol’ scanner and tablet. Luckily, my narcissistic tendencies came through to save the day and make me finish something. Continue Reading →

Life Ruiners, Part One of Many

tfios1

Since I’m on my little YA book kick and officially out of luck with the Divergent series until late October, I thought “hey, I can read that other book they’re making into a movie – everybody likes it, it must be really good”. So I shelled out even more money to the Kindle store and bought a copy of “The Fault in our Stars”. Continue Reading →

A literary scholar I am not

hg_new1

A while back, you may have become acquainted with my then-burgeoning infatuation with The Hunger Games, a.k.a. the only time I’ve ever been obsessed with a book. Of course, the throes of obsession can only last for so long, and after a while, I moved on to other things. Becoming your own inner parent

selfparenting1

Now that I am making my way out of my 20s (a depressing topic in its own right), I am becoming more and more aware of things adults actually have to do. Doing the laundry before you completely run out of clothing, filling out all sorts of important paperwork, and voluntarily going to the dentist – just some of the things that I now find myself doing on a regular basis. Even the fun part of being a gainfully employed adult – buying something because you want to – is tainted by the fact that you have to restrain yourself from splashing out on things you don’t need. A quick ode to why Seattle summers are the best

agoodday

As we have previously discussed and then discussed again, the weather around here can be a bit dreary sometimes. A lot of the time. But as everyone who lives here already knows, it’s all totally worth it when you consider how awesome our summers are. Like seriously, Seattle summers are beautiful, in that not-too-hot, not-at-all-humid, doesn’t-smell-like-rotting-overheated-garbage-and-sweaty-armpits kind of way that other cities suffer in the summer months. Life with an Audio Geek – An Update

audiogeek5

Hot on the heels of my last post, I decided to up the ante on my music listening experience (hey, it’s an important part of the drawing process!) and get myself some serious-business headphones. And lucky for me, there was no trudging through Amazon reviews by people who give a product one star because they don’t like the box it’s shipped in. Me, I have a personal audio consultant who has already fought those battles for me. Continue Reading →
